A. Electrical Safety (Safe Isolation)
Live working is strictly prohibited unless absolutely necessary under stringent safety justification as mandated
by regulation. All electrical work must follow strict Safe Isolation Procedures (Lock-off and Tag-out using
approved voltage indicators conforming to BS EN 61243-3 and proving units) before any circuits or equipment
are touched. Testing and commissioning must be carried out by competent persons certified to current BS
7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) standards.
B. Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Dynamic risk assessments must be conducted at every site prior to starting work. For complex or high-risk
installations, formal written RAMS must be prepared, understood, and signed off by all participating
technicians before mobilization.
C. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Electricians must wear appropriate PPE at all times, including:
Insulated safety footwear complying with EN ISO 20345.
Flame-retardant clothing where arc flash hazards exist (IEC 61482).
Eye protection (EN 166) and insulated hand tools rated to 1000V AC (VDE approved).
D. Incident and Accident Reporting
All accidents, near misses, and injuries—no matter how minor—must be recorded in the company accident
book located at the office (27 Chartwell Lane, Longfield, DA3 7AY). Reportable incidents under RIDDOR
(Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) will be escalated to the Health and
Safety Executive (HSE) immediately by management.
4. Review and Monitoring
This Health and Safety Policy is reviewed annually by REA Electricians management or whenever significant
changes to work practices, company scale, or legislation occur to ensure continuous improvement in our
safety standards and statutory compliance.
